Gear Vendors in Assassin's Creed Shadows are the 33 specialized merchants — 30 across Japan and 3 on Awaji Island — supplying weapons, armor, headgear, consumables, and the unique Engravings that define both characters' builds.
All 33 confirmed locations are visible and ready to be tracked on Map Master's Assassin's Creed Shadows interactive maps.
Every Gear Vendor automatically adjusts its weapons and armor selection to the character currently being played.
Visit as Naoe, and the stall shows Shinobi equipment — Kusarigama, Tanto, stealth-focused robes, and light headgear. Switch to Yasuke, and the same vendor shows heavy Samurai armor, Katanas, Naginata, and Yumi Bow ammunition. Rations and consumables are available to both regardless of active character.
Weapons and armor inventory resets with every in-game season change, approximately every 90 real-world minutes of play.
This means a specific weapon that wasn't available in Spring may appear in Summer or Autumn. If looking for a particular gear type, revisiting Gear Vendors after each season change is the most reliable method — the seasonal cycle continues throughout the entire playthrough.
Gear Vendors sell weapons and armor up to Epic rarity — the second-highest tier. Legendary weapons and armor are never available from any Gear Vendor.
For Legendary gear, the sources are Legendary Chests inside Castles and Kofun tombs, and specific quest rewards. Items available from Gear Vendors sometimes appear at slightly above the player's current level — making vendors worth checking immediately after levelling up.
While all 30 Japan Gear Vendors share an identical weapons and armor selection, their Engraving stock is entirely unique per location and never rotates seasonally.
An Engraving sold by the Sakai Gear Vendor does not appear at the Kyoto Gear Vendor, and neither refreshes over time — the Engravings at each location are permanent and exclusive to that merchant.
This makes Engravings the primary reason a completionist must visit every Gear Vendor individually. The visit must also be made as both characters — Naoe can only purchase Engravings compatible with her weapons and armor, while Yasuke can only purchase his own.
Some Engravings are shared between characters, but many are character-exclusive. Two visits per Gear Vendor (once for each character) are required to collect the full Engraving set at any given location.
Engravings from Gear Vendors cost a few hundred Mon each, with the most expensive below 500 Mon — among the least costly purchases in the game relative to their build value.
